The film, ‘Treasure,’ presented at a film festival in Portland, Oregon, portrays how autism affects African-American families. African-American children with autism spectrum disorder are among the worst-affected largely due to a delay in diagnosis or social stigma. Jesse LaMon, the lead actor who portrays a 13-year old with autism, is also on the spectrum to add further authenticity and honesty to the film.
