TO: Parents of children who have been given secretin
FROM: B. Rimland
URGENT: YOUR HELP IS NEEDED!

During the last 18 months about 100 autistic and autistic-like children have been given secretin by about 20 physicians in various parts of the U.S. Many children have shown benefits, and the news is spreading fast. A national TV show is planning a segment on the secretin-autism connection, in September or October, and that will really increase interest.

There is an urgent need to gather information now from the parents of kids given secretin, so we can provide the best possible answers to questions that parents and physicians are sure to ask, such as:

  • Is there any way to tell if my child is a good candidate for secretin? (Do young kids do better than older kids? Do adolescents and adults respond? Do early-onset kids do better than late-onset kids? Do high-functioning kids do better than low-functioning? Do kids with bowel problems (diarrhea/constipation) do better? etc.)
  • What is the best dosage (amount) of secretin? What is the best schedule for giving secretin?
  • Are there kids who don't show improvement after the first dose, but do improve after dose 2 or 3?
  • What improvements are seen?
  • Are there adverse (side) effects? If so, what?

We need as many completed survey forms from parents as we can get. Survey Form. Please complete the survey form RIGHT AWAY and fax or mail it to:
